Soccer has been a big part of my life since childhood. Growing up, I never owned cleats or any other fancy soccer gear. They only jersey I had was a Bayern Munich jersey. I played with my friends on the streets with goals made of rocks on either side. Sometimes we would use our lunch money to rent nice soccer courts with “miniature” goals. It was hard to score on them, so it required a lot of team work, but I’ve never forgotten how much fun it was!
During the 2020 pandemic, now as a grown man, I had this realization that we needed to make a game that would feel so satisfying when you pass obstacles and ultimately score a beautiful goal. Perhaps this was my way of dealing with the pandemic. My 6 and 7 year old kids were quick to get in on the fun—from giving me obstacle ideas and feedback about how to design the levels… Then things go more complex when they had the idea of creating different ball designs, but we’ve managed. : )
Over the past 2 years, after many nights of designing, developing and lots of early testing by my kiddos, I’m proud to announce that we have a beta version up and running on Google Play Store, and we call it Slick Soccer!
Being a solo-dev and working on this game only at nights, it hasn’t been very easy to pull this off, but I enjoyed the ride every step of the way since this was a great bonding opportunity with my kids.
Let us know how we can improve the game
The game is not complete by any means—there are more levels we need to design and bugs to fix, but we would be grateful if you gave us your feedback on how we can improve the game on our Discord channel.
Thank you for becoming a part of our journey!
